Character name: Sooraya Qadir aka Dust or Turaab in Arabic.

Canon or Original Character (OC)?: Canon.

Character’s age: 18.

Character's gender: Female.

Character's personality: Sooraya is very reserved, collected, and calm. She has high standards for herself and is moralistic on a number of levels. She values family over materialistic needs and keeps her friends close at heart. Being a devout Sunni Muslim, she is never seen without her burqa when in public, even altering her X-Men outfit to fit the needs of her faith. She is often quiet spoken and on the shy side. She has a close bond to Hellion, Mercury, Icarus, and Wolverine.

Powers: Sooraya has the ability to turn herself into a sand-like substance, and control herself as a living dust storm. She is able to blind her opponents and strip away flesh with her sand powers. A few times she has been controlled by others when in her sand-like form; the first was by Xorn and the second by Wind Dancer. According to Jean Grey and Professor X, she is very hard to telepathically detect while in her sand-like form.

Character's physical description/Play by: PB - Parminder Nagra. Sooraya has almost burnt sepia colored skin and rich chocolate eyes. Her dark brown shiny hair looks almost black and is of decent length. She stands at 5'6, 136 lbs.

Character history: Sold into slavery in Afghanistan (also her home) at a young age, Sooraya Qadir was liberated by Wolverine. When she was enrolled at Xavier's school, she was originally placed in the Special Class to allow her time to acclimatize to her new environment. When the Class' instructor, Xorn, was manipulated into believing he was Magneto, Sooraya joined the X-Men in opposing him. Later, when the student body was organized into squads, Sooraya was placed with the rebellious Hellions. Seemingly out of place with her respect for tradition and strong moral code, Sooraya still did her best to work with her teammates. She's hoping that a mission will come along that will reunite her with her mother, but has had no such luck.
